MLA Congratulates New Legislative Leaders
March 16, 2009

The MLA is reaching out to the new leadership in the House and Senate as they begin a new legislative session. Among them are Speaker Robert DeLeo (D-Winthrop), who previously served with distinction as the Chair of the House Ways and Means Committee; Rep. John Keenan (D-Salem), who is the new House Chair of the Joint Committee on Tourism, Arts and Cultural Development and Sen. Sonia Chang-Diaz (D-Boston), the new Senate Chair of that Committee; Sen. Benjamin Downing (D-Pittsfield), who is the new Senate Chair of the Committee on Revenue, and Rep. Jay Kaufman (D-Lexington) who will serve as House Chair of Revenue; and Rep. Charles Murphy (D-Burlington), who takes over for Speaker DeLeo as the new Chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means.
