MLA Speaks Out Against New Pharmaceutical/Medical Regulations on Conferences and Meetings
May 28, 2009
At a winter hearing in early 2009, the MLA spoke out against proposed regulations that would severely impact the state's lodging and tourism industry. President and CEO Paul Sacco warned against the unintended consequences of new rules that would largely prevent pharmaceutical and medical device salespeople from holding receptions and meetings at a hotel or other non-medical facilities. Mr. Sacco's comments resonated among the Department of Public Health, which offered changes that would soften the blow the new regulations would deal to the industry.
