Who We Are The Massachusetts Lodging Association Education Foundation (MLAEF) is dedicated to fostering the education of the next generation of the hospitality industry’s workers and leaders through access to resources, scholarships, and certification programs available to workers and students within the state. Through its efforts, MLAEF hopes to inspire and make possible the dreams of hospitality workers in Massachusetts.
Internships MLAEF works with a number of secondary and post secondary schools to help provide internships to member properties. American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute The Massachusetts Lodging Association Education Foundation (MLAEF) provides a wide variety of educational resources and programming to develop a qualified hospitality workforce. MLAEF works with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) to provide the best in coursework, educational resources, and certification programs to the next generation of hospitality workers and leaders. Included in this state-wide effort are internship programs for both high school students and college students, who have the chance to learn from hands-on experience what the hospitality industry is like, as well as local and national seminars and workshops which are offered throughout the year that address current issues and training in every department and for virtually every position level. Lending Libraries are available for member properties to borrow valuable training videos and books as they face the training challenges at their individual property.
Roger Saunders Lodging Institute MLAEF and its program arm, the Roger Saunders Lodging Institute (RSLI) provide workforce development and education to the most underrepresented populations in the Commonwealth. A qualified, educated workforce is trained for the Massachusetts lodging industry through career development programs for high school students and new workers, advanced training opportunities for current employees and an offering of English for Speakers of Other Languages programs specific to the lodging industry. In addition, career ladder information and education is available to members of the program. The MLA works with the lodging industry to determine employment needs and develop programs to address those needs. Partnerships include workforce development initiatives and community based organization in order to understand and access the hardest to reach populations.
