State Issues
The Massachusetts Lodging Association (MLA) is committed to representing its property and industry members at the local and state levels. The MLA pays careful attention to the state legislature, monitoring bills, attending hearings and staying in contact with legislators and state officers. MLA's Position Papers
The MLA maintains position papers on a variety of important issues. Position papers include the following on each issue: Background, other information, updated actions and the MLA's position.
State Regulations for Carbon Monoxide Detectors
Recently updated regulations require that lodging establishments (as well as other residential and commercial structures) have carbon monoxide detection systems installed near every potential source of this gas. The devices must be installed in rooms that contain fireplaces, kitchen stoves and any other fixture or appliance that burns fossil fuels. Whether those devices are battery-operated or hard-wired systems is clearly outlined in the regulation. For more information about these regulations please visit:
